About Senior Pastor Ross Kernohan
My name is Ross, and I am married to Fanny, and we have three children, two boys and a girl. I have been a Pastor for 8 years; Fanny and I feel privileged to be called to serve in this way, and it’s a calling that we don’t take for granted. We love the Church, and it’s important to us that everyone finds their place within the body of Christ, in which they not only feel loved but free to serve with the gifts and abilities God has blessed them with. Before training to become a Pastor, Fanny and I served with Medair, a Christian Humanitarian aid organisation based in Lausanne. Our roles required us to travel, and we loved the opportunities it provided to experience how other cultures and nationalities do Church. Thank you for the opportunity to serve. We look forward to getting to know you and journeying with you in this new season.

Senior Leadership Change
After 14 years of ministry to Crossroads Basel, Senior Pastor David Fortune returned to Canada in June 2024. Our long-time Associate Pastor, Nico Hoogenraad, led Crossroads as Interim Senior Pastor until he unfortunately and unexpectedly needed to leave in December 2024 for reasons related to the health of his family. After a rigorous search process, we welcomed our new Senior Pastor Ross Kernohan to Crossroads in June 2025.
Crossroads International Church of Basel is advanced in a search for a new Senior Pastor following David Fortune’s return to Canada last June. In the meantime, our long-time Associate Pastor, Nico Hoogenraad, was leading Crossroads as Interim Senior Pastor until he unfortunately and unexpectedly needed to leave in December for reasons related to the health of his family.
During this leadership change, Crossroads is governed by the long established Board of Elders and supported by its staff. Crossroads continues to be the vibrant, English-speaking, multinational and multi-denominational congregation it has been these past 20 years. Crossroads’ various ministries and programmes also continue unchanged to serve our large number of young families, children and youth.
Crossroads has a comprehensive policy to facilitate leadership change and the Board of Elders keeps the congregation up to date with where they are in the search process using this website and by making verbal announcements on Sunday mornings.
If you have any questions you can contact the Elders directly, or speak to one of the staff. It is normal to experience a range of emotions during any leadership transition, but if you have questions or would like reassurance, please reach out.
