3 Places Where God Is At Work

There are times in our busy lives when we just don’t feel like God is present or working in the midst of our situation. It’s important to know that our perception of things can sometimes be off because his word assures us that he is always at work. Here are three places where God is at work each day.

God is at work within us. “For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” (Philippians 2:13) Some days, it seems like our spiritual transformation is slow and not much seems to be changing. Yet God is faithful to his promises and the one who began a good work in you is faithful to complete it. Don’t despair: there is more going on than you know.

God is at work through us. This might be hard for some of you to believe, but God is using you for his glory.  “You are the light of the world. … let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-16) When we are committed to serving the Lord, he will use our lives as salt and light in the world around. Others are watching and taking note of the hope that is within you.

God is at work in the people around us. I have seldom had a spiritual conversation with a non-Christian where it wasn’t clear that God was already at work in their life. The job of the Holy Spirit is to start working in the lives of people before they are even aware that God is calling them. Jesus said that when the Holy Spirit has come, “he will convince the world of its sin, and of the availability of God’s goodness, and of deliverance from judgment.” (John 16:8, NLT)

So as we get up and get ready to go into work each morning, we have this confidence that God was already up earlier than us and has gone before us and will be working in and through us in a world where he is present.
